Of the many people who were affected by the climbing virus outbreak, they became true nature lovers, but some were just impromptu.

Well maybe you don't have to go to the top of Mahameru on Mount Semeru. Mahameru Peak is the highest peak on the island of Java. For climbers climbing to Mount Semeru, it seems like a mandatory destination to achieve, but for tourists who just enjoy the view of the lake, just going to Ranu Kumbolo is quite satisfying. This lake has become a favorite place for transit and a gathering place for climbers to reach the summit of Mount Semeru, precisely after the fourth post. After getting tired of walking for 4-5 hours through a fairly tiring terrain and a decent height, we will arrive at Ranu Kumbolo.

Ranu Kumbolo is not an ordinary lake, so when you see the clear water there, don't rush to immerse yourself in the lake. The Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (TNBTS) and the Friends of the Semeru Volunteers do not allow climbers to bathe in the lake. Remember safety is number one.

It covers an area of 15 hectares. Lake Ranu Kumbolo is also a source of clean water for the climbers of Mount Semeru. This lake is located at an altitude of 2,400 meters above sea level. So it is very suitable for transit and rest by setting up a tent.

While resting, you can cook to eat or just drink warm coffee in a very cool climate. While enjoying the beauty of Lake Ranu Kumbolo. In addition, at this location you can see the splendor of the sunrise that appears from behind the hill.

When night falls, the expanse of the sky at night really makes a surprise. Hikers will see clusters of stars from the Milky Way galaxy that are more clearly visible, especially when the weather is clear without clouds. This is difficult for us to see when we are in the city, because the lights from the surface of the earth beat the light from the stars in the sky.

To reach this location, you can use the air route to Malang via Abdurrahman Saleh Airport. You can also take the train to the new city station. After arriving in Malang, you can look for public transportation with the direction of Tumpang Village. From here we can rent an SUV to get there and start the climb, of course with a guide who has become one with the SUV rental.

Before reaching Ranu Kumbolo we will reach a village called Ranu Pane Village. This village is the last village with a population at an altitude of 2100 meters above sea level. Here there is a Licensing and Checking Post for all visitors who are going to Ranu Kumbolo or also to the top of Mahameru. Here we will take care of the permit for a moment so that visitors who enter the climbing area can be recorded, for vigilance if there is something unwanted. In this post there are also officers for help and assistance if there is an unexpected disaster.

Before entering Ranu Kumbolo while climbing 5 km (estimated travel time is 90 minutes with normal walking) before reaching Ranu Kumbolo there will be a panorama of beautiful stone walls as high as 100 meters.
